1. What is Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy (OT) helps people participate in the activities (or “occupations”) that are important to the, from personal care and mobility, to home management, community access, and leisure, OT’s focus on building independence, safety and quality of life through practical client centred solutions.

2. Who do you work with?

We work with adults living with neurological and physical conditions, including Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, spinal injury and other neurological, progressive or chronic conditions. 

We also support people through the ageing process, as well as those recovering from orthopaedic injuries or amputations, and individuals expecting fatigue, sensory changes or mobility changes that impact daily life.

With over 18 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist Anna has extensive experience in numerous areas and offers a wide range of services.

4. Do you provide complex home modifications under the NDIS?

Yes. Russell Occupational Therapy provides comprehensive assessment, reporting, and coordination for complex home modifications funded through the NDIS. We work collaboratively with participants, builders, and the NDIA to ensure each modification is safe, functional, and tailored to individual goals. Our focus is on creating practical, accessible environments that promote independence and support everyday living.

5. Do you provide home visits?

Yes. We offer mobile occupational therapy services across Adelaide, Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu Peninsula, and Murray Bridge — from Hills to Coast. With offices in both the Adelaide Hills and Adelaide CBD, we’re able to service a wider area of Adelaide, including the southern, eastern, and inner northern suburbs.

Home visits allow for assessment and recommendations in your own environment to ensure practical, personalised solutions that fit your lifestyle and goals.

6. Who can access your services?

Russell Occupational Therapy provides services across a range of funding programs and referral pathways.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
We work with participants funded through the NDIS who are plan-managed or self-managed. Our services include assessments, reports, and recommendations for assistive technology, home modifications, and therapy supports.

Department of Social Services (DSS) Programs
We accept referrals under the Disability Support for Older Australians (DSOA) program for eligible clients who are not covered by the NDIS or aged care programs.

Home Care Packages (HCP) and Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)
We provide occupational therapy services to older adults supported through Home Care Packages (HCP) and the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP).
For HCP and CHSP clients, services are arranged and funded through your approved provider, who includes our services as part of your care plan.

Private and Other Funding
We also support privately funded clients and accept referrals from other insurance schemes or funding sources.

7. How do I make a referral?

Referrals are accepted from individuals, families, support coordinators, or healthcare professionals.

8. Do you offer telehealth appointments?

Yes. For suitable clients, appointments can be offered via secure video or phone consultation.

9. What areas do you cover?

We provide mobile services throughout the Adelaide Hills, metropolitan Adelaide, and surrounding regions, including the Fleurieu Peninsula and Murray Bridge regions.

10. How is travel invoiced?

Travel time and costs are invoiced based on the distance required to reach your location. Where possible, travel is shared between clients in the same area to minimise costs. This ensures that services remain as efficient and cost-effective as possible while still allowing flexible home visits across the Adelaide Hills, metropolitan Adelaide, and surrounding regions.

11. Does invoice time only include face-to-face sessions?

No. Not all invoiced time is face-to-face. In line with NDIS pricing arrangements and price limits, invoicing may include:

  • Preparation and follow-up work

  • Report writing

  • Liaison with other health professionals or support services

  • Travel time where applicable

This ensures that the care and recommendations you receive are comprehensive and fully supported, even if not all activities occur during your direct appointment.

12. How long does an assessment take?

The length of assessment and a relevant follow up/reports depends on your individual needs, goals and the type of service required. Every session is tailored to you, ensuring there is adequate time to thoroughly understand your situation, provide personalised recommendations and prepare relevant reports. This may also include liaison with other professionals or support services to ensure the best outcome for you.

13. Do you provide reports for NDIS reviews or SDA assessments?

Yes. We have extensive experience preparing detailed, evidence-based reports for NDIS plan reviews, Assistive Technology requests, and Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) eligibility assessments.

14. Are you registered with AHPRA?

Yes. All our OT’s are registered Occupational Therapist’s with AHPRA and member’s of Occupational Therapy Australia, with over a decade of experience supporting adults with neurological and physical conditions.

15. Do you offer professional supervision?

Yes. We provide individual supervision for occupational therapists seeking guidance in neurological practice, NDIS reporting, clinical reasoning, and professional development.

16. How is my personal information stored and protected?

Your privacy matters to us. Russell Occupational Therapy handles all personal and health information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles and NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission requirements. Client information is stored securely, used only for the purpose of providing therapy services, and shared only with consent or when required by law.
